Running the Race: 3.1 Miles in 48 mins.

Stepping up the pace!! Today, we did 4-2 (walked for 4 minutes, then ran for 2 minutes). It wasn't as bad as I thought, considering I haven't ran in a week; it actually was a lot easier. This time Mr. Erwin Reyes joined in - keep it up Er!

Go Lakers!!!!

Yesterday, I wasn't feeling well so I took a nap while Mike and Kaykay watched the Lakers' game. After about an hour, I woke to Kaykay yelling, "Go Lakers!" That's what I get for leaving Kaykay alone with Mike. Tomorrow, the Lakers play the Spurs again - which hopefully they'll close out the series with a win.

D&P Expedition: Day 3 Bye-Bye Portland

With the rate Kaykay is vacationing, she should have over 100k frequent flyer miles, not to mention all the hotels she's conquered. This trip, we stayed at the Sheraton Four Points (near Gresham). With the name Sheraton, you would think luxury - however I would consider this particular hotel 3 star quality. Even the beds that Sheraton is infamous for were a disappointment. Don't get me wrong, the rooms were still nice and the staff - very friendly. Just didn't equate to the Sheraton "quality." Kaykay decided she wanted her own bed - not a crib - because she's such a big girl now.

"Dada, no moy wawa!"

"Ah Oh!!"
(As the plane experienced some turbulence)

D&P Expedition: Day 2 (Wedding)

As Mike previously mentioned, our purpose for traveling to Oregon was to attend Stephanie's wedding. This whole weekend, I kept thinking what a blessing it is to invest your time, life, and love in someone by discipling them and one of the joys in doing so is witnessing their growth in Christ and sharing in their life's milestones. Stephanie marrying John was an answer to many years of praying. And to see her and John make their vows, brought tears to my eyes.

The ceremony was held at the First Baptist Church,
downtown Portland.

One of the highlights during the ceremony happened while Stephanie and John took communion; John's parents sang "How Beautiful"- in English and in Korean (John's nationality). Both his parents' voice were heavenly; matter-of-fact, we found out that his father is a music prodigy.

Off they go!

Now it's time to party. The reception was held at the Tiffany Center (also in downtown Portland - a few blocks away from the church.)

After a week in Maui for their honeymoon, Stephanie will return to Vallejo next week for her graduation and then jet off to Minnesota where she will do her residency for 4 years. I will definitely miss her but looking forward to visiting her in the Midwest.

Congratulations! Mr. & Mrs. Lee

D&P Expedition: Day 2 (Wahkeena Falls)

You would think that after a couple hours from one fall, then we would have had our fill. Not us. Right down the street was yet another fall, Wahkeena Falls. It is not as big, but it was beautiful nonetheless. You be the judge.

The walk to the falls for this one was not as strenuous. It was just a couple minutes and we were there. It seems as if the falls on this was not as big, but the pictures does not do it justice. You have to be there to see what I mean.

Not only was the falls amazing, but we even saw weird creatures such as this. If anyone knows what this is please let me know. If it is an undiscovered species of insect/amphibian I may name it after me. Then again, I would like to reserve it for a better, or cooler looking creature.

D&P Expedition: Day 2 (Multanomah Falls)

After a really short drive, we went to Multanomah Falls. I was the semi tour guide as I was the only one that had gone here before. Funny, I thought that this place was bigger since the last time I came here when I was in choir 14 years ago! One thing that hasn't changed was the absolute beauty of this place. Once again I am awed at God's ability to create such beautiful things. How much more beautiful must God be!

This was the view from the bridge. It was amazing the amount of water that flows from this place. I guess it is good that Oregon sees rain 75% of the year.

Walking this beautiful place reminded me of Jurassic Park. Everything was so big if a dinosaur walked by it would not have suprised me.

I would love to say that Keaolani was amazed. But the only thing she kept saying was, "Mo moi wa wa mama, mo moi." She thought we were going to give her a bath. However, being in this place, her skin actually got much better. Well, medically speaking, if Hawaii don't work out then we can always live in Oregon...naw!
That huge rock that you see on the top left picture of this four fell and created a 70 foot splash. It reached all the way to the bridge that I was standing on and the parking lot below. The rock is about the size of a mini van and weighs as much a three school buses. This makes me feel more dumb as many of the youth choir members, myself included, jumped the fence and swam in that same pool of water. Boy was that dumb!

D&P Expedition: Day 2 (Driving)

Driving in Oregon is a completely different experience. I must give kudos to Jay for driving. He is a champ! There was much to see in Oregon. To your left you see the Columbian River, which at it's widest is 1 mile wide, with Washington sitting on the other side. To your right there are trees bigger than most buildings and even roller coasters in Vallejo. It was stunning. It was almost like being in Maui. Every where you looked there was water falls and lush greenery.

The David and Palompo Expedition: Day 1

During the Memorial holiday, we -along with the
Palompos- went to Oregon for Stephanie and
John's wedding. Stephanie is a Touro medical student who attended CBC and our home fellowship group, CORE. Bessie also had the pleasure of discipling her while she was here for 2 years. (In order to try something different and avoid some posts being too long being pushed to older pages I will enter each day/event as a different post. Just bear with me.)

Our first stop was to eat. We arrived just in time to get an authentic Oregon dinner. As there were no such thing as authentic Oregonian meals we settled for the next best thing, Thai food! This place was amazing and it set a pretty high standard for the caliber of meals we were going to eat. Just look at these pics!!!We had a family style menu. We opened with a delicious lemon grass clam chowder; this soup held many flavors that exploded in your mouth. Very appropriate for the cold and damp weather. My mouth is salivating as I write this. Our main course consisted of the very best Phad Thai I ever had and Kings curry beef with spicy green beans. But the real star was the ono dessert. Sticky rice with mango, homemade coconut ice cream and fried banana as large as a funnel cake!!! Wow.

After this meal we had to try and fight off food comatose, so we walked around the plaza and found a Borders and Target. Keaolani found something else that caught her eye. Her word Hannah Montana is "bo-bose." It is short for Best of Both Worlds. This was day one.
