Last weekend we had our very first garage sale. Being that it was our first, I tried to prepare a month in advance - finding all the information I could about having a successful garage sale. I found plenty info on the internet and close friends who've had garage sales in the past. Some of the advise we got were:
1. Advertise and make sure you make signs that are clear and visible to traffic; since we live off a major street artery, it wasn't hard to lure a lot of people in. We also put an ad in the local newspaper and on craigslist.

2. Arrange so that it's easy for people to look for things.

3. Price to sell. This was probably the hardest thing to do. How to price things so that people will find it a bargain and still make a considerable profit. Since it is a garage sale, you and your customers have the freedom to bargain - one rule of thumb, price your items so that you or your costumers have that freedom.

4. Weather helps! Last weekend was the perfect weekend to hold the garage sale bec it was sunny and warm. Everyone was out looking for a bargain; we even had people driving into our court before 9 am. Honestly, by 11 am, I was ready to close shop; didn't realize having a garage sale is tiresome. Fortunately, we had a faithful brother help us the whole time. (Thank you Uncle Ami!) Oh, speaking of time, majority will come in the morning, so if you are inclined to start early, 7 am or 8 am is a perfect time to start.
We had so much fun (not to mention made a good amount of profit) that we plan on having another one next month. Come by and visit :)
