Lighting up the Skies - Independence Day 2

We decided to stay and watch the fireworks at the park instead of our backyard and it was definitely worth it; it seems that AC's fireworks get better and longer each year. Unfortunately I was unable to capture the finale; I ran out of space on our camera. It was a blast! (I know Vange, corn on my knee ;) )

Independance Day

Traditionally we spend our 4th of July at the beach however, this year our ministry decided to stay local and spend the day at the park - Victoria Faire in American Canyon to be exact. We began our day lazily at home and headed out to the park around noon. AC's parade was just getting done and we expected a lot of people at the park, but we were pleasantly surprised that we were of only 2 groups that came out for a picnic.

(Mike comforting Kaykay after she got her pants dirty in the mud)

Kaykay is a lot like her dad as she does not like to get messy; when she fell in the mud and got her pants dirty, I figured I would just let her keep wearing it in case she fell again. She quietly went to her dad, with tears in her eyes, and showed him what had happened to her pants. She then turned to me and said, "Mommy, change please!" Who can deny such a sweet plea.

One of the highlights of this day was cooking the oysters and eating them up! (Thanks Josie for helping me cook and eat them!) You see, I have been craving for oysters for 2 years but was unable to eat them because I was pregnant and breast-feeding. Since I am no longer neither, I searched high and low for them; finally ending my search in Benicia (thanks to my sister's vigilance.) And boy, were they worth it!

Aside from that, we spent the day lounging around, playing volleyball, eating - not to mention we had a group of people bring instruments and had a jammin' session. More people joined us before dark to pick their spots to view the fireworks.
